
BIOTROFOS is a family owned company, located in Agios Athanasios, a small village near Thessaloniki, in Northern Greece.
Opened in 2005, this company produces mainly cut pasta, based on 100% certified organic durum wheat semolina.
Their product range extends from kritharaki, stellini, macaroni, penne rigati and fussili (plain or with spinach and tomatoes), not forgetting shells, couscous, chilopitaki (another Greek speciality) with eggs and milk, alphabet pasta (with spinach and tomatoes) in a specially decorated box for children
Biotrofos is also known for its production of authentic Greek products such as trahana, sweet or sour. The trahana is made of wheat soaked in fresh milk, eggs, yoghurt, which is then cooked in a vegetable broth. To be enjoyed hot with a little lemon and a dash of olive oil!
Their production follows all the European directives in terms of organic production.
They have also recently started working with wholemeal wheat, Triticum Dicoccum (an ancient Greek wheat variety with a naturally low gluten content) and spelt.
