PROFILE - Escurette
Thanks to Escurette, say goodbye to cotton buds that end up in your bin and then in the oceans. Sylvie and Briac have brought back the ecological and economical solution to clean your ears: the ear cleaner!
The project
Sylvie and Briac, who have been running the family business for twenty years, have not invented a revolutionary tool. And that's just as well! With the anti-plastic measures taken by the European Union in 2021, they have been able to give new importance and interest to an everyday object that already existed: the ear pick.
The ear pick is the ancestor of the famous ultra-polluting plastic cotton swab. It has a small spoon-shaped "scraper" at the end and allows excess earwax to be collected without the risk of blockage.
Existing since Antiquity, the ear pick has disappeared from our bathrooms since the 1960s but health professionals still use it. Escurette has brought it back to life.
We started marketing escurette in May 2019 after 6 months of development. the project has developed in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and the UK, in no less than 971 points of sale!
The values
Endlessly reusable, Escurette is a French, ecological and responsible ear pick. Guaranteed zero plastic and zero waste.
Its handle and cap are made of hornbeam wood from ecologically managed forests and its "scraper" is made of medical stainless steel (super easy to wash for impeccable hygiene). The raw materials and manufacturing are French and environmentally friendly.
In addition to their ecological and responsible motivations, Sylvie and Briac also pay great attention to the health of citizens by proposing an alternative to cotton swabs, which account for 40% of visits to the ENT.
To clean your ears properly, you simply need to clean the edge of the ear canal as well as the outer part of the ear, which is what the ear pick does! Whereas the cotton swab tends to be pushed in too far, close to the eardrum, at the risk of piercing it...
