A Belgian and organic tree for Christmas
Buying a Christmas tree every year has a certain ecological impact. And yes... This is the case for any ephemeral product that is consumed only once a year.
Nevertheless, it is a product that gives us pleasure and joy and it would be a real shame to do without it! That's why we suggest you combine pleasure and responsibility with Sapigrange trees. The only producers of organic fir trees in Belgium.
How are Sapigrange trees grown?
An organic tree grows for 7 to 10 years. They are carefully tended to in all seasons. Five varieties are normally grown at Grange Farm. This year, those that have reached a suitable size for sale are Nordmann, Spruce and Fraseri.
To take care of it, Sapigrange uses secateurs and agroecological methods:
- Permanent soil cover with white clover: for erosion and weed management without herbicides.
- Variety alternation and diversity: to limit the risk of disease spread.
- Hoeing or mowing between trees: to replace herbicides in trees planted before the white clover technique.
- Manual pinching: to limit the growth and to have a beautiful bushy tree, without chemical shorteners.
- Planting of flower strips: to encourage the development of ladybirds, micro wasps, hoverflies and birds, to help us in the fight against aphids.
When to pick up your tree?
Plan a family afternoon to pick up your tree at Sapigrange. The search for your tree is an activity for the whole family, the children will love the tree maze!
By cutting it yourself, you can be sure that it will be fresh and beautiful! You can pick it up at Sapigrange from 20 November, it will be perfect for Christmas.
Tip: if you have underfloor heating or if you place your tree next to the stove, it is advisable to put the foot in the water. You can choose between a water foot or a cross foot.
